Did you know that every Tuesday at 4 pm, you can paint your very own masterpiece? Irene Klemas, head librarian at the West Oak Lane Library, holds an art class every week. These free classes are a result of her passion for art and teaching. Ms. Irene breaks down the art piece into very simple, easy to carry out steps. With her patience and assistance, each participant leaves the program with a smile and a beautiful painting.
This week, Ms. Irene taught the class how to paint a lovely nighttime landscape. Before they began to paint, Ms. Irene taught the students how to create different brush strokes on the blank canvas. She also explained the names and color components of each paint that was squeezed onto their pallets. While taking the students through each step, Ms. Irene would answer questions and assist them whenever necessary.
Stephanie Jones, one of the students at this week's art class, felt very satisfied with the finished product. She has been to several art classes with Ms. Irene. Each time, Ms. Jones was surprised by the art that she was able to create. While interviewing her, she said that "Everybody has a little bit of art in us".
Come join Ms. Irene every week on Tuesday at 4 pm at the West Oak Lane Library. No past experience is required and everything is free. Time to bring out the little bit of art from YOU!
