Here's a great community event coming to West Oak Lane in the next couple of weeks! Elaine Jones, a Leeway grantee and local writer, completed a two hour documentary about what she calls the silent generation. The documentary is a compilation of interviews. She's holding a screening at St. Peter's Lutheran Church on August 20th. Check out her flyer:
Elaine came to us a couple of weeks ago to learn more about the Collection, she has a lot of great ideas for videos to make in the coming months. She stopped by this week for a one-on-one session at the West Oak Lane library. It was great that she came prepared with photographs and some video footage she took of the Uptown theater, which recently started hosting a community radio station. After showing her the ropes of PowerDirector she got straight to work on editing and adding a voiceover. It was great to see an older community member whizzing through a short video-making tutorial!
In the future when one person wants to work with us one-on-one we'll be sure to ask that they bring some footage or have an idea of a project they want to start.
